The Cellar was founded in February 1928 by local farmers as Calitzdorp Vrugte Uitvoerders Kooperatiewe Vereeniging Beperk, Calitzdorp Cellar began its journey with a focus on exporting premium soft fruits, including grapes, peaches, and apricots. Initially, the cellar’s operations were centred around exporting and sending wine to a distillery in Oudtshoorn where it was further distilled for KWV.
