In June 2005, before Voortrekker Road was a bustling town centre, La Verne Wine Boutique opened its doors with the mission of showcasing wines for the remarkable Robertson Wine Valley to wine lovers across South Africa and abroad. During that winter two couples who had been friends for years entered a new stage in their friendship – they became business partners.

From a modest beginning in 1978, the Habata citrus and produce company has grown to incorporate 1 000 hectares of citrus and 700 of vegetables and cucurbits in the Eastern and Western Cape provinces of South Africa. The Eastern Cape side of the operation, which is based in the well-known citrus-producing Sundays River Valley about an hour’s drive from the city of Port Elizabeth, consists of a selection of farms around the towns of Kirkwood and Addo.

About Roodezandt HomeAbout Roodezandt 18 September 1953 11 Farmers that delivered their grapes to the old “Sonskyn Winery” gather to form the “Sentrale Koöperatiewe Wynmakery Beperk”. The building, machinery and grounds are purchased from Robertson Distillery for the amount of ₤13 000 and a 13 year contract for 1 000 leaguer wine is signed with it.
